Hi, my partner and I worked on my car the whole weekend. Chevrolet has been discontinued in South Africa, so finding proper help is a challenge. The head gasket blew, had it skimmed, bought a new head gasket, aftermarket, and everything is straight assembled. The car started; it runs beautifully but it is leaking oil under the manifold at the gasket seal. I suspect that because we did not replace the bolts this could be a problem and also. the torque sequence and settings might have been received wrong on Google. Please may you assist.

Hello,

The cylinder head bolts need to be replaced as they are stretch bolts.
Once new bolts are fitted torque then to an initial spec of 22 Nm, 16 lb ft.
The second stage is an angle of 82 degrees using an angle attachment, see image below.
Please ensure that you tighten the head bolts in sequence, see image 2 below.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Boris

Thank you Borris, I will only be able to apply this on the weekend. So, my understanding is then that the sequence is not crossover but according to the numbers on the diagram?

Hello,

Yes, the tightening sequence is as per diagram.
Directly from Chevrolet's workshop manual.
