Head gasket replacement?

I need to have the head gasket replaced and was curious if removing the turbo is required and if so, is that typically included in the head gasket labor repair cost, or would it be separate? Example, I am being quoted $3,500.00 in labor for a head gasket replacement, and $1,600.00 in labor for removing and reinstalling the turbo. Nothing is wrong with the turbo.

Hello,

Yes, the turbo will need to be removed in order to perform the head gasket replacement.
The labor hour for the head gasket is 15 hours and the turbo is 5.7 hours.
So, the final price will depend on the shop rate and parts cost.
Also keep in mind that many shops will do some other services like hoses when they do the head gasket.
So, you might want to ask exactly what will be replaced.
