Welcome to 2CarPros.

On this vehicle, there are two flashers. One is for the signals and the other the hazard flashers. Both flashers are located under the dash on the driver's side in the fuse/relay panel. Have you tried replacing it? See the attached wiring schematic.

Let me know if that helps.

I have a 1992 dodge Dakota. The headlights brake lights and the hazard lights do not work, although both front and back turn signals work. How do I check or replace the wiring? I am also looking for the cheapest and quickest route to do this. Should I do this myself or take it to a auto body shop or the dodge dealership?

it's a good chance your switch is bad then , see if the switch gets power and if it does then see if when you turn it on it sends power out. if it does then you need to check those wires. also check to see if headlight is burnt out it will get power. oneother thing if this has a floor dimmer switch disconnect it and see if the headlights work they get corroded and will on ly let like high beams work.

When they don't work, does nothing happen, does the indicator light up and not flash, or do they flash really fast?

IT sounds like either the flasher is bad, or the switch itself. For it not to flash as all, power is stopped at some point. When this happens, you need to check to see if there is power to the flasher (under dash / or could be in the power distribution box under the hood). If there is power, switch out the flasher. If there is no power, you will need to get into the steering column to check for power in and out of the signal switch.
