I have replaced the rack and pinion and power steering pump and car is hard to steer sometimes and it jerks back and forth what. could it be?

Good morning,
Did you use a new rack or a used one?
The moving back and forth is an indication of a bad rack.
Also, check the shaft from the steering column to the rack. There are two U joints in the shaft and if they are tight then it could cause the issue.
