Transmission will not shift into gear, FWD or reverse?

I inherited this vehicle thinking it only needed a fuel pump and a new gas tank. After $1,400 I realized the car would not get into gear. FWD or reverse. Nothing.
We changed transmission fluid. Garage said fluid was wrong, it smelled like gear oil. The color was not red. After replacement the car drove about a mile and then would not get into gear. Thinking I should replace the transmission fluid again. And see what happens. What would you do? Have it rebuilt? Get a new truck and call it quits?

That is up to you, it depends on the condition of the truck, if it is nice I would try the fluid flush again and if that doesn't help install a rebuilt unit. please go over this video to help you remove and replace the transmission:
