Start by checking all fuses here is a guide to help you see what you are in for

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

Here are the fuse panel locations and identifications

Also run the codes to see what comes up

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

Check out the diagrams (Below)

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

I had filled up my vehicle with gas and drove about 80 miles on a trip. While driving back home, the truck started missing while excelerating. This has been several days ago and the truck is still missing really bad. The service engine soon light has not come on. I took it and had it hooked up the a computer and it did not show anything. What could possibly be wrong and what should I do to try to get it repaired?

Yesterday our pickup's check engine light came on. Everything was fine. Had put on computer which showed no codes or problems. Check engine light went off yesterday evening. Had rained a lot yeterday and during day engine seemed to start to miss, like maybe water in the gas tank. We did have to drive through some water but maybe four inches deep and not driving fast. Today, ran a few errands and check engine light came back on. No misses, this stopped yesterday evening. Seemed okay. While turning a corner on my way home the truck just died out. Moter turned off. Steered off the road and restarted truck with no problems. Came home, which was about 7 miles and was pulling into driveway it died again. Not sure about this now. Have any ideas?

Check engine light:

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.

2004 Ford F-150 Triton 4.6L. 56,000 miles, Battery died 2 weeks ago, replaced it and ever since "check engine light" has been on. I disconnected negative battery cable for 15 minutes, still on. It also shuts off at idle or turns, not idling as high as it should. No change in idle speed when A/C is turned on/off.

Good evening.

Pulling a cable does nothing. It fixes nothing. All it does is make the ECM forget the code as it will return.

I do need the code that is set. From your description, it sounds like the idle air control.

I have 2004 f150 xlt in which the battery went out. I have replaced battery but now trucks is idoling wrong and sometimes dies when i slow down after driving. I have been told it was the computer and it needs to be reset. I went through the owners manual of how to reset computer but it did not work and to boot a light has come on the dash. what is this light ? it looks like and engine is this the check engine light or emmisions light?
I would really like to fix this problem so I feel it is either the computer is not set or I must have a vacuum leak some where. Any suggestions?

usually after the computer is reset after hte battery is connected it has to be driven for about 50 - 100 miles to readjust to your driving habbits again. give it some time and if that doesnt help post back.

I have a check engine light comes on once in a while, mostly in cold weather. I have been able to read then erase with my scanner. Now my scanner won't work on my truck. It works on others. Could I have a bad pcm that isn't sending out the codes?
Thanks for your help.

if the battery went dead or the battery has been disconnected, the computer will not completly reset until the vehicle has been driven appox 50 miles. disconnect the battery and let it sit for about 10 minutes. then reconnect the battery and drive the vehicle. it does not have to be done all at once. the computer should reset itself thenafter it has been driven, if the battery is disconnected and then tried to scan sometimes it will come up not ready or can not read .

I am at my wits end on this Truck, the pin has power the grounds seem good, the check engine lite remains on and this Truck has been to the dealer 3x for check engine lite, every time it cost me at least $300 for repairs. Last time the EGR valve went bad. I bought an OBD to do the work myself and its possible that the last time ity was at the dealer, they did something to the pin???? In any case its going to a different Ford dealer....Thanks for the help.ps do you want to buy a cheap 2004????? just kiddin

it is possible that the computer went south on the diagnosis part. i have run across some of thoes trucks the still have both ports on them the one under the hood and the OBD II when the OBDII wouldn't work the other one would.( just a thought )darn things can get agervating.and on a deal like this one not being there makes it harder to figure out. does the truck run poorly? i have seen a simple thing like a vaccum leak bring on a check engine light.well anyway good luck and sorry we couldn't help with this one 8) NOS

Ok, took my truck to the dealer,he said that the 04 and 05 F150 has a (KAN)? TYPE READER for the computer that wont read the OBD11?????They said they read the codes fine. The check engine lite was a fuel pressure sensor (line) ? THAT cost $348 bucks. I tried my OBD11 again after I picked up the truck and it still wont read. Is there a OBD that works on my 04????? Thanks....Paul Anania

Please respond to your original question when you have a follow up or no one is going to know what you're talking about.

Have the codes read and see what it is. You may have had something unplugged and turned the key on.

See my profile,

I know little about computer cars, BUT this is what I do when I have to mess with family and friends rigs. (I have Real Jeeps, CJs, No Computer)

Autozone and Advance Auto will scan your rig for codes, FOR FREE!!!....Engine light on, means you have a CODE(S)

They can probably also set you up with what you need, a lot of times they will show you where these sensors are located........On occasion, I have seen them help you with the issue in their lot!

Let me know what they find

And that you are now fixed!
