Grinding noise and stalling when coming to a stop

That's a good question. Does it only happen when coming to a stop? Does it always do it when stopping? Can you tell approximately where the sound comes from? For example, do you hear it from under the hood, under the vehicle, in the vehicle, and so on?

If it is loud enough for you to record and upload for me to hear, please do so. Also, let me know the approximate area you seem to hear it from.

Additionally, let me know if the check engine light stays on when driving and if you notice any transmission-related issues.

It has been doing it all the time now when we come to a stop, and it sounds like it is coming from the engine/transmission. When we come to a stop the car wants to keep going forward like it's surging. There is no check engine light either.

Does it feel like the transmission isn't disengaging to allow the vehicle to stop or is the engine idle speed changing causing a surging?

I'm sorry for all the questions. I'm just trying to narrow it down.

Okay, It is likely related to the torque converter. Here is what needs to be done. We need to scan the can-bus system. CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, all the computers/modules are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will identify codes regardless of the module storing them.
