Grinding noise

Hello y’all, I am seeking help and I hope I find it here. What I have is the truck listed above Silverado with a 6” lift with 35” tires. The truck has about 85,000 miles on it. Has brand new wheel hubs on both sides and just had an alignment. My truck began making this grinding clacking noise when turning or when I hit a bump. My CV joint has no play and my lower ball joints do need replaced and I’m doing that in a couple days. But a part of me doesn’t think that’s the issue. I changed the differential fluid in the front and it was pretty rough and sludgy. But I still have this darn noise. Hello and welcome to 2CarPros. That sounds like a loose or damaged backing plate for the brakes. I would pull the tires off the front and look to see if one is loose or very close to the brake rotor. They can make some interesting noises if the get rubbed.

Well sadly that was not the issue. So back to square one. Hoping replacing the ball joints along with inner and putter tie rods fixes it.

If those are worn they can make noise but it's usually more of a dull thud or rattle inside the vehicle. However, it could be a combination of the worn parts and a backing plate. The flex from a worn joint letting the knuckle move enough to cause the tin to hit. Get those replaced and then see if it's now quiet.

So after fixing all of it the noise was my wheel hub assembly on the passenger side. A bolt for whatever reason had wiggled its way out or was tampered with and was removed. So the noise was my wheel hub actually shaking and the fact that it did not break is nothing short of a miracle. However my ball joints were in desperate need of replacement which they now are and my dust cover did have new scrape marks so all in all I would like to thank you Steve for all your suggestions you were a great help sir.

Well that isn't something that should happen, If they were just replaced it's possible that one wasn't tightened fully. At least you found it, that could have resulted in a serious mess if it had failed. My guess would be the part flexed enough that the backer plate rubbed. Then when you looked it had returned to the normal location so it didn't rub.
Now that it's back together it should be OK.
