I had a grinding noise on rear end of car and something flew off whilst driving.
I pulled up and could not see anything so re-started engine and back end dropped about four inches then righted itself.
I took it to garage and had all four discs and pads replaced and a couple of other bits done and was fine for three hundred miles now grinding again on back end.

I would first get it back to the mechanic that did the work and get them to inspect the rear end on a hoist. did they say what they found on the initial inspection? a brake problem would not make the car dip like that, this will be a suspension problem, but i am sure that this model is not a self leveling suspension system. this needs to be inspected first hand to see if anything is broken first.
