Problems with strut towers?

I'm going to look at the car listed above. I had a 1994 Escort Wagon real nice reliable little car. I drove it 10 years but the strut towers finally gave out on it.
Do they still have problems with the 1997 Ford Escort not real sure the mileage at the guy didn't get back to me I live in the Ohio valley across the river from Wheeling West Virginia. we do have winners I'm a little bit apprehensive about the strut towers not really sure the mileage either that was just a guess.

They have the same strut tower design and the same rust issues. They are not that difficult to repair though if the rest of the car is good. Cut out the rust and weld in new steel. But if the entire car is tired and it's starting to go, then I'd probably pass on it unless it's very cheap.

In my area a 97 wouldn't even be on the road unless it was stored in a garage through the winter. Condition is the biggest item, is it in good shape, no rust, regular maintenance, good tires, brakes and such? If in doubt or if you're not sure you could have a shop do an inspection on it and then decide from that. Sometimes they can see things you might miss.
