Electrical problem
2006 GMC Yukon V8 All Wheel Drive Automatic
----------------------------------------------------------------
Just out of no where the rear hatch will not work what so ever. I cant get the lock to unlock with the wireless key and it has no entry for a key on the hatch. The glass also will not open or even make a sound...Now all of the other doors and windows on the other 4 doors work fine no problems what so ever..It sounds like a short to me but this suv is so new and well taking care of.... im leaning to maybe a faulty relay..the one box in the interior but no luck for door locks..any help would be great.

Service writer, the ECC 10 amp fuse appears ok, would there be another fuse I could try. He Yukon is out of warranty.

ty for your time

You can check these. Swap them out with another fuse of the same to be sure. Same goes for the ECC. You may need to manually open the liftgate to get at the components inside the door to check for wiring problems or bad connections. Check any harnesses that are bent on a tighter radius that will flex when the gate goes up and down.

From what I understand, the latches on these can be troublesome and should get lubricated. Granted I have not run into this problem on these at our shop.

Service Writer, I believe we are getting close, but no cigar just yet. The 06 Yukon does not conform to the Fig.10 diagram ( opening liftgate during electrical panel)....It does have a pull down strap that the owner can use when closing the hatch. This strap uses a small hex head type screw. Upon removing this strap it makes it easier to pop out the bottom panel and expose all of the workings. Once you manual unlock the level you can utilize the push button for the glass or the level for the hatch. I sprayed the workings with WD-40 and noticed while using the remote lock the mechanism appears to wiggle. This tells me that it is not fuse related but more of a failure of the lock/unlock mechanism. Should I continue to track down electrical/fuse or does it also seem it is the lock/unlock mechanism?. I may try to decipher uploading a picture if this will help. Thank you again, we are close. Handshake

I am having the exact same problem. However, I was unable to remove the panel in fear of damaging it. Please let me know if you find a fix.

Does this look like what you have?

https://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/30961_lift_1.jpg

IF there is no noise at the actuator, then this is still electrical, other wise you would hear or see a reaction when the button is pressed. Test for power at the arrows, I expect none. This is the flow chart:

https://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/30961_lift1_1.jpg

Check for power going into the actuator harness, IF present, I would expect the actuator to be bad.

The rear hatch will open with remote or console button but the only way to close it is by hand. when it opens and after it stops moving it clunks fairly loudly has done it for a while so figured it normal. The latch clicks when either the remote or button are pushed but will not close by power only by hand.

Hello,

It sounds like you have a lift gate power module that is going out but lets check the fuses first there are two. One is under the dash and the other under the hood. Here is a guide to help you and the fuse location with the wiring diagrams for the lift gate so you can see how the system works:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

I would check the module electrical connector for corrosion here is the location of the module as well.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find.

Cheers, Ken

Need to remove the interior panel and inspect the latch assembly,Im thinking a plastic connector broke and the rod wont release. Can you hear it make noise when you try to release it with the button?

Try manually pulling on the cables where they hook to the mechanism to see if you can make them release the latch

The black arrow is able to be moved to lock or unlock the mechanism...the red arrow does not rotate when the button is pressed to lock or unlock...it does wiggle when the lock/unlock button is pressed.

The two cables above the actuator, try moving them to se if the latches will release. Sounds like the lock actuator may be bad or the latch assembly (motor)

It appears that the lock actuator and motor are one piece. If this is so, then I might try replacing this assembly. Like I mention when you press the lock/unlock the lock actuator wiggles but does not engage.

It sounds like you have the wires switched. (polarity) Check that first.

I did not change any wiring when actuator was replaced. I will take your advice and change the polarity to see if that solved the problem.

Actuator connector was never re-wired. After I install actuator, I just plug in actuator connector in it and tested.

In other words. I unplug the actuator, replace with new one, plug-in actuator connector. I did not connect any wires or change the polarities at any point of time.

My electric door locks function properly, byut when I lock them with the electronic key fob, the rear hatch door (I don't have "barn door" rear access), does not lock. I have been told it is mostlikely the "activator". I am very adept with tools, but before tacking this, I'd like to know if there are any special "tricks", pitfalls, etc. Where is it and how do I access it the easiest way? Can I just buy the activator from GMC and replace it myself, or is it wiser to just burn a day and drive it to the GMC service center.

Thanks for your help.

rear glass is fuse 13 in dash fuse box. if fuse is good it may be a bad switch or wiring issue. four wheel drive fuse is 24 and 14 in dash fuse box.
