Electrical problem
1996 GMC Yukon V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic 115K miles

After several weeks or a month, the starter fails to activate; it just clicks. I clean the battery terminals and the problem goes away for another few weeks. The battery and positive battery cable to the ECS have been replaced.

Welcome to the forum, I'd check the actual voltage reading at the starter relay circuits, in the power distribution center under the hood. Unplug the relay and use digital voltmeter. Make sure the tranny is in park or neutral and the e-brake is set. Voltage to load side of relay is hot all the time. Voltage to coil side of relay goes hot with key in the start position.
