1992 yukon 2 door 103,000 350 5.7 liter. I can not get a temperature reading on my gauge. I have replaced the temperature unit on the block but still no reading. I checked wire and it is good untill it get to fire wall. Anythingelse I can check before taking the dash apart to find out gauge is bad?

Coolant temp gauge measures current resistance from the temp sending

unit,mounted in the cylinder head. The sender has a resistance of 53.4 ohms at

257 degrees, and 1200 ohms at 104 degrees. As the tem increases the current to

the gauge increases due to less resistance, causing the gauge to move to hot.

Try testing the guage by applying volts to the hot wire..gauge should go

towards hot! If not, the gauge is NG or the wire!
