Hello to all: I left the key in the ACC. mode on my diesel truck and the batteries died,I got a jump start but when I got home I noticed one of the batteries was boiling over and hissing (Out of water?)I threw a charge on it and it seemed to take it,but after a20 min. trip it still started to cook.

This is an AC Delco maintenance free battery and My questions are:
1 is the battery shot?
2 can distilled water be added to a maintenance free battery/I tried prying the cover off but it was on pretty tight.

Hi there,

I feel that yo have two problems,

1. The alternator may be over charging due to a faulty voltage regulator, have the charge rate checked.

2. The battery may have a collapsed cell, get it load tested as this is the only correct test for battery condition.
