stopped while running. alt bench tests ok, swapped battery, gets fuel by bypassing filter. #1 plug sparks from plug to block as a test

Try spraying a little starting fluid in the intake while cranking the eng. If it starts, you have either a plugged fuel filter, insufficient fuel pressure, or a bad pressure regulator.
