I tried to change my two motor mounts and are having a hard time of it! I can't get to the motor mounts because the trucks suspension is in the way. I tried to jack it up and use jack stands and still no luck. Can anyone help me with any advise for this repair???

Hello - This info is for the 4.3L engine. NOTE: Broken or deteriorated mounts can cause misalignment and destruction of certain drive train components. When a single mount breaks, the remaining mounts are subjected to abnormally high stresses. 1. Raise the vehicle. 2. Remove the underbody shields, if equipped. 3. Remove the engine mount through-bolt and nut for the side being replaced. Fig. 45: Engine Mount Through-Bolt & Nut

4. Using a jack on the square tab (left side shown) at the rear of the engine block, raise the engine. In order to access the square tab on the right side remove the starter. Refer to appropriate STARTER article. 5. Raise the engine only enough to remove the engine mount. Fig. 46: Square Tab At Rear Of Engine Block

6. Remove the bolts for the engine mount frame bracket. 7. Remove the engine mount frame bracket. Fig. 47: Engine Mount Frame Bracket & Bolt

8. Remove the bolts holding the engine mount to the engine. 9. Remove the engine mount with the shield. Fig. 48: Engine Mount & Shield At Engine

Installation Procedure 1. Sub-assemble the engine mount, shield, and one bolt. Fig. 49: Assemble Engine Mount, Shield & One Bolt

2. Install the engine mount and shield to the engine. Fig. 50: Engine Mount & Shield At Engine

3. Install the engine mount to engine bolts. Tighten Tighten the engine mount to engine bolts to 55 N.m (33 lb ft). 4. Install the engine mount frame bracket to the frame. 5. Install the engine mount frame bracket bolts. Tighten Tighten the engine mount frame bracket bolts to 45 N.m (33 lb ft). 6. Lower the engine and remove the jack. 7. Install the engine mount through-bolts and nuts. Tighten Tighten the through-bolts or the nuts to the following: "¢ Tighten the through-bolts to 74 N.m (55 lb ft). "¢ Tighten the nuts to 63 N.m (46 lb ft). 8. Install the starter, if removed. Refer to appropriate STARTER article. 9. Lower the vehicle. Fig. 52: Engine Mount Through-Bolt & Nut
