message center on dashboard

I own a 1999 GMC Sierra 4*4, 4.8 liter V-8. Next to the tachometer, there is message center. When I start the truck it always flashes "change the oil" and then shows a battery symbol. Now I changed the oil a couple of days ago and it still shows the symbol. Is there a way to clear the message center? Thanks

Yes....turn the key to on, do not start! then press gas pedal to the floor 3 times within 5 secs...this clears the change oil light, but also Change the oil if it's time!
