2006 GMC Sierra Transmission will not go into drive

The shifting mechanism inside of the transmission may not actuate for drive (this mechanism has different settings for single speed (1) and two speed (2)). The car needs to be looked at by a transmission specialist; however, you can check for proper fluid level in park and the engine running at normal operating temperature.
