I have a 2005 GMC Sierra ¾ ton four wheel drive; my right rear axle seal leaks slightly. It has been years since I since I have taken apart a rear end. Could you provide some pointers in the best way to replace the seal?

Hi Whitdon, Thank you for the donation. There are a few models and replacement procedures are different. I have the bacis replacement procedures and if you have any additional info let me know so I can get the relevant data. REAR AXLE SHAFT SEAL REPLACEMENT - OUTER Removal Procedure 1 . Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information. 2 . Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels. 3 . Remove the axle shaft. Refer to Rear Axle Shaft Replacement (8.6, 9.5/9.5LD Inch Axles) or Rear Axle Shaft Replacement (9.75 Inch Axle) or Rear Axle Shaft Replacement (8.6 Inch Axle w/Drum Brakes) .
