2000 GMC Sierra Lost power steering, pump? or what else to

2000 GMC Sierra V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I lost power steering and truck is VERY hard to turn. Power steering pump is fairly cheap, but could it be something else? If so, how do I determine?

take the belt off and pull on the power steering pump pulley,the shafts break in cold wheather.if this doesnt work or is not the problem post back an will advise from there.
