Pulling a grade my van started to throw off blue smoke. I pull over and notice transmission fluid by dip stick. What would cause transmission fluid to blow out of transmission?
I have since pull another steep grade and no problem.
Should I be changing the filter and fluid because of the over heating? (Fluid was flush and change 10,000 miles ago but not filter)
Would adding a transmission cooler be a good idea?

Thanks for any help?

Hi there,

you have answered all your questions, change the oil & fitter and fit a good quality oil cooler and you should not have any problems towing.
