After stopping for fuel, starter would not engage. Battery seemed to be hot and when attempted to jump off, the starter would still make no attempt to engage. The headlights do not dim when the ignition key is turned, so I'm guessing that it is either the starter, starter solenoid, or a safety switch. Where would be the best place to start checking? thanks

Start by checking for 12 volts at the small starter wire when key is in crank position. If it has it, the starter is bad, if not get back to me and I will give you the next step......

Sorry about the delay, my computer junked your responce. I'm not the best on computers! There was no voltage on the small wire at the starter motor with the ignition start engaged, however, when I accidently shorted the terminal with the heavy battery lead, the starter motor bumped.

Upon further checking of the fuse panel, I found one labled crank. Fuse was not blown but since I had a spare, I replaced it and the starter engaged. There was no visible corrosion on the fuse, and the meter showed continuity through it. I guess eleven years had taken a toll on the connection, but the fuse panel has never even been opened up since it was purchased new. That didn't help atone for the $70.00 towing fee, but you win some, you lose some! Many thanks for the support!!
