gmc safari engine/tranny removal

i have a wrecked 92 safari and want to pull the engine and tranny, need to know if i can pull it without having to drain airconditioner freon, can i just disconnect hoses from a/c to engine? need to do this fast, landlord says van must be off property by end of month and hate to lose good motor/tranny, thanks for any insite to this problem...Bodhi :roll:

the only way not to evacuate the a/c is to unbolt the compressor from the engine and leave it in the car

Thanks 2carpro Jack! is that the only disconnection to make hose wise going to compressor motor?

Man! what a job! I recently had to remove my engine because of a failed crankshaft and being an all wheel drive made even more difficult, also the front panel was spot welded in place, apart from that, the engine has to be vurtually stripped in place and the front axle dropped. I had a a/c guy come by and drain the a/c system. I found the more I removed from the engine the easier it was to wriggle the motor out. Good luck and while you are at it, change the sparkplugs. I sometimes wonder why I love these vans...
