1997 GMC Safari Hooking up the starter

How do I hook up the starter motor, there is three wires one from battery(black), one red thin wire, one purple. I disconnected the after market alarm that was causing the ignition not to operate

Purp;e goes to big bolt on starter, red to small one on solenoid, black to bellhousing bolt that holds on starter.
