1988 GMC S15 transmision won't change

My 1988 s-15 won't change gears. The rpm's go all the way into the red zone but will not change. A garage has told me that it may be the linkage but would not fix it. what's up?

Hi there,

It is simple enough to check the external linkages, if the box is positively engaging each gear, check fluid level, if that is ok, it will be a trip to a transmission specialist as the fault will be internal and most general mechanics won't do transmission repairs any more as they are to complex and require many special skills and tooling.
