The nuts that fasten the motor mounts are inaccessible in the frame under the lower a-arm.

These fasteners are turning, which prevents the motor mount bolts from being removed.

How do I get access to these nuts? Does the lower a-arm neetdto be fully removed, or can the a-arm be temporarily lowered to gain access without messing up the front end alignment?

You should be able to remove the lower ball joint and gain enough access to it. Please be careful if the coil spring.
