My daughter gave me an '86 w/T5 transmission (newly replaced with NEW oem unit 1 year ago) with 4 WD and has had to replace clutch and throwout bearing twice already. Sounds like garbage disposal full of ball bearings! The clutch doesn't engage until the pedal is almost all the way up. I had an '82 that did this and it was simple missadjusted (mechanical) and wasn't totally releasing the pressure plate. This '86 is hydraulic and I can't locate any adjustment! How do I get the clutch to engage at the start of pedal travel (well, up a little from bottom!) so the clutch is really released to work right. I just know this is the same problem, but don't know how to fix it!

If there isnt any adjustment at the rod from the pedal to the master cylinder, you may be out of luck. Are you using new clutch kits or reman? in my experience reman clutches arent worth the time to install.
