Electrical problem
1983 GMC S15 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

i have replaced battery and alternator and still have something draiining the charge in the battery, how do i find the short

welcome to the forum, check for any lites that may be left on, interior-- under the hood-- in the trunk-- glove box. Best time to check is in the dark. You can probably take a battery cable loose, use testlite between cable and terminal, if testlite comes on, there is a drain. You pull fuses, one at a time, till the testlite goes out, when you pull the fuse that effects the lite the most, the short is on that circuit.

The best way is to check for excessive amp draw, pull fuse till the amp draw drops to normal.

do i hook the test lite to positve or negitive terminal

thanks one more problem when the car seems to be running for 20 minutes it starts to cut out and lose pwer like its not getting enough gas

How long since a tune-up? If you think it is a fuel issue, start there. Change the fuel filter, check fuel pressure.
