I own a 1994 Grand Am Pontiac, 119,000 miles on it and it is a V-6. I recently replaced the ECM on my car because it was misdiagnosed by my mechanic. The real problem turned out to be a bad battery terminal. However, before I replaced the ECM with a new one, at times my car would not start. A friend showed me a trick, that is to turn the key half way, place my foot on the brake, turn the gear into neutral back into park, and then turn it on. Of course this makes it work perfectly. He said it might be the computer but I have since replaced it and it continues to do that. Now more often than before I had it replaced. And it seems the trick is not working so readily. Why doesn't it turn on? It's not the battery! Because once it turns on it's okay. PLEASE HELP

Sounds like your Neutral Safety Switch is going out.It is located on top of the transaxle where the shift cable hooks up
