transmission question

Will a 1996 pontiac sunfire automatic transmission fit a 1997 chevy cavalier and or are the motors the same? i know that the chevy has a 2.2 in it but i dont know what the pontiac has in it.

The same engines were offered in both cars, so short answer is the transmission COULD be compatible. Your best bet is to research what engine this particular pontiac has (there are, I believe, a few different sized engines it could have), and ask a mechanic.
