Fuel pump?

98 Chevy 1/2 ton 350 w/ 120K miles. After my truck died on the side of the road, I assumed it was the fuel pump, again. (I replaced it a year ago.) I can still hear it the fuel pump running. I replaced the fuel filter first, which didn't seem to be the problem. I have taken the fuel pump out of the gas tank and can't seem to figure out what's going on. The truck will start when pouring gas in from under the hood. I don't know if there are loose wires connecting to the pump- a fuse out..?Any suggestions?

have it check for pressure if it is not at the right pressure the injectors wont open and close had the same thing on an 96 chevy and i had to replace the whole tree inside the fuel tank the wires on the tree melted and was not putting the right amout of pressure through the lines. :)

Hello: I assume you have a TBI injection system, not sure, you didn't say. If the fuel pressure regulator in the TBI unit is bad will cause problems. TBI units usually need only 9 to 13 pounds of fuel pressure to operate. If there is something wrong with the IGN module in the Dist it will not send Injector reference pulses causing injectors not to open. Make sure the vacuum hose to the MAP (if you have one) is not torn, gummed up or something like that. Could be several things, but checking fuel pressure is a real good start
