die out

i have a 1981 buick regal and in the mornings when i first start up my car, it starts up then dies out, and after i get it going, when i excelerrate it hessitates to go like it wants to churn off but then goes smoothly after that.

Check fuel pressure at startup. You may need to replace the fuel pump and/or filter.

runs fine untill i go down the street then it die out can anybody tell me why?

If fuel pressure checks out fine then the next thing I would look at would be the IAC (Idle Air Control) and throttle body. They may be clogged with carbon deposits and need a good cleaning.
