Chevy truck slow starting

It's a 2000 Chevy Silverado with a 6.0L gas engine with automatic trans and 4x4. 48,000 miles.
When cold the engine starts right up. After driving and getting it warm and it's been shut off for a while it's slow starting. It always starts, but it takes a little while and the idle is really slow until it slowly picks up speed and idles normally. I didn't think it would help, but I replaced the spark plugs anyhow just because they were original. It didn't help. It's been doing this a for a while, but the truck is driven only once or twice a week. It runs fine other than this. Thanks for any help.

according to the Haynes service manual for chevy engines, the posible causes are:
1: dirty air filter
2: vapor lock caused by clogged fuel filter
3: bad ground connection
4: defective pick-up coil in the distributor
Maybe that will help you out. Good luck.

It has a clean air filter, so the next step will be to replace the fuel filter. Hopefully that'll do it.

it probably has to do with the coil in the distributor getting hot...try the dis cap, rotor and wires too....then check the coil....

OK, It has a clean air filter and now it has a new fuel filter. It can't be the distributer or anything inside because it doesn't have one.
The truck starts great the first time of the day and runs great. It always runs great. It's just that after shutting it off and going shopping or whatever when I start it again it will crank for a few seconds and then slowly start to fire and it idles very slowly until it finally starts to idle normally. It always does start, but I'm afraid someday it won't. Any more ideas?

The battery is very strong. It cranks the motor like crazy.

I replaced the Fuel Pressure Regulator today and that was my problem. To check it first I disconnected the rubber connecter from the regulator and fuel ran out of the hose indicating that it was bad. It took 10 minutes and almost $70 for the part to fix it. Now it's back to starting instantly like it used to.
