1993 GMC pickup won't turn over

Have new battery, starter was tested at parts store(ok), and checked volts at starter when in start postion. Good voltage. Checked ignition switch, by pulling off switch and manually cranking it. Get radio power and everything else, but no wine from the starter nothing. This is a 5 speed, could it be the switch at the back of the clutch, or possibly a bad ground off the starter. have been trying to troubleshoot this for a week, any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I checked the ignition switch, I tried it with a new one and got the same result.

I have the same problem with my '94 GMC. Had an incident about six months ago while 600 miles out of state. I had all the exact same issues you're describing. Had it hauled to a pep boys and they found a short in the Silencer security system that was installed by the dealer (I didn't purchase the key, so that was quite frustrating). They by-passed the security box, and that fixed the problem but now I have the same situation again. All things electrical work, headlights come on bright, guages light up and work, can hear the fuel pump pressurize but no movement of the starter, not even clicking. Battery checks out great. I don't want to go through the hassle of removing the starter, no indications of it going bad (dragging, noise, etc.). One other item, don't know if it's related or not, but my cruise control and wipers would occasionally quit working too. Very confused and frustrated 'cuz I can't get on the lake!!! If I learn anything, I'll post it here!

running now found out that the key cylinder a actuator rod were not working correctly. Found out when i took the ingnition switch off the steering column and put a new one on and the actuator rod would not line up with the new switch. Had to start it manually for about a week until i could fix it. But at least it started. thanks

I hope those fish enjoyed the break! My issue did turn out to be the starter/starter solenoid. checked voltages on both items before removing and they passed. Autozone tested the starter and it wouldn't hit a lick, froze up! Glad you found your problem, having that manual tranny sure comes in handy with something like this, next truck will have a stick! One note for those searching for a fix for similar problems, I heard from many different sources to check the wiring to the solenoid on the starter, supposedly the o-ring type connecter and/or the wiring that is factory stock tends to "wear quickly" or break. Save yourself a lot of time and do the voltage testing! It's easy and will save you a lot of "replacing parts 'til I get the right one" stuff! I hear the bass a callin'!
