1998 GMC Jimmy 4x4
200,000 miles
auto trans
I have knocking sound coming from my driver side wheel.
Recently had Jimmy looked for posible brake problem. Was told it is my Differential.
I dont do any off roading. Only use 4 wheel dureing winter season, snow.
I was told not to do any off roding, which i dont, and not to drive on the highway. How long do I have before this gets bad. Can i drive the Jimmy at all or wil it make it worse?

i just had the same problem on the rear my gears went out bout two weeks after sstarted hearing noise and kept getting worse and worse the rear end hoped like a wheel hop i am now in the process of replacing rear end was cheaper that way parts for the rear were 400 dollars ended up gonna be 1600 for parts and labor got a used rear end for 350 and i am doin most of the labor myself so what that sounds like to me i would park it and get it looked at before going anywhere when happened to me was half hour from my house dad pulled me home with a chain.
