2001 GMC Jimmy Temp Gauge

Serviice Engine Soon light came on. Suspected ECT immediately as I noticed temp gauge was only only halfway to 210 degree mark, and had replaced last year. Pulled a code at auto parts store indicating either themostat or ECT. Had ECT replaced and service light reset. Temp gauge on cluster still not coming to normal setting.
