I have a 1998 GMC Jimmy, 110,000 miles, V6. My Jimmy has had an ongoing rattle that sounds like it is underneath for a long time. It is the same sound that my daughter's car (1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee) made when the catalytic converter went out. This week it has also started having acceleration problems. You can floor it and the rpms will go as high as they go, but the car will not go faster, or get much above 35 or 40. Even when it does accelerate it does not change gear it just sounds like it is reavving (sp?) This happens especially after it warms up a little. We replaced the mass airflow sensor as that is what the computer pointed it out to be. Now the car is worse and has a terrible smell. Like something burning, not rotten eggs smell tho. Is this the trans mission or could it be something more simple? Confused
