Electrical problem
1997 GMC Jimmy 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I put a long block Vortec V6 from Sattler's Supply CO., its a standard motor that's been remanufactured. We put it in ourselves went to start it and its turning over but there's no fire. So i changed the distributor and cap, computer, coil, crank sensor, and neutral safety switch. Checked the wire hornus, no wires pinched or broken and the battery is fully charged. Still it turns over but no fire!!!!

The wiring circuit for the coil driver module, is it factory? Check the circuit, pink wire is B+, white wires should have a pulse with the engine cranking, black is ground.

i changed that part with the new distributor, rotor, and cap i put. the connector for the neutral safety switch would not come out and it cracked the the switch so i got a new one and just noticed my connector with the 7 wires ( looks like the wires go to the computer and distributor ) has a few bare wire, i dont think that would stop it from start hun! i am ordering a new connector to put on the switch, going to take a few days though!!!!

the transmission switch was defective so got a new and that part is working. now i found out about the refluctor plate that goes behind your timing chain cover to let your cam sensor send fire to the motor was left on the old motor. now Chevy Dealer said i would need to pull the motor out of the Jimmy to change the part and they lied. i changed it without pulling the motor, just had to take off the 3 front bolts on the oil pan on each side and it was not easy but i was able to fix what i needed and now my jimmy is running. hope my problem can help someone else or even make them aware of the refluctor plate because it fires the hole motor.

Ouch! dealer gave some bad advise. Glad you solved on your own. Great info reluctor left on old engine ran into that on Pontiac year ago wish I would have had better memory.
Good Luck
