1994 GMC Jimmy Idles high all the time

Engine Performance problem
1994 GMC Jimmy 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

This vehicle has a 4.3 Vortec . Everything seems to be OK except it never Idles down. It doesn't miss or backfire or stutters it's like it never warms up. Could this be an Idle Air control , or the TPS ? Is there a way of checking these, and the check engine light flashes on and off sometimes.

Try cleaning out the idle air control valve and pull the code/s from the computer

Hey one more thing; can't I use a jumper to check for codes? And unhook the battery to clear them?

Yes you can use a jumper on the A to B on the diagnostic link connector to pull the code/s and disconnect to clear it
