A couple of weeks ago I was sitting in a drive thru and I noticed what smelled like burning plastic. I looked and saw a small amount of smoke coming from the switch where I turn my heat up and down. It only lasted a couple of seconds after that and hasn't happened since. My heat works just fine as long as I warm the vehicle up good, there is not any coolant build up on the floor and I'm not losing any coolant. So basically I was wondering could this possibly be a sign of a future heater core problem or is it just some wire that doesn't mean that much?

no if anything its wiring inside the control panel . as long as everything is still working properly and there is no more smell . im sure there is not going to be anymore problems from that heater control panel. at the same time if you just want to ease your mind, then I would pull the control panel out and do a quick visual inspection of the wiring . otherwise don't worry
