Hi, I have a 1988 GMC Jimmy. V6. My question is
that when you turn the heater on,you get very little warm air and there's a loud roar. It lowers somewhat when you lower the lever. Higher is noisest and barely audibel at low setting.
Am I correct in thinking its the blower that needs replaced or is it something else. Or called something else. Is it easy to replace? Im not a mechanic but
I can do somethings but nothing major.
Thank you for any info.

it does sound like a blower motor. remove and check for noisy bearings in motor. also make sure theres no trash stuck in blower cage. or in the air plenum.

Thank you. The person I bought it from had already put many new parts on it. When he listed it,he did say it was sort of loud. Sort of is an understatement.
He said it had sit for 10 yrs before he bought it,replaced alot of needed parts etc and he had drove it. I didnt know if you could oil them or not.
It doesnt blow air out at all...except on defrost.

most of the heater issues are vacuum operated. it will go to defrost if the vacuum motors don't work. it could be the control head for the heater . the blower motor is easy enough to change. the rest is probably best left to a garage to repair.
