2004 GMC Envoy speedometer won't register / It's stuck on 1

I have a 2004 Gmc Envoy XUV and I realized that the speedometer isn't registering. It is stuck in the right corner pass the 120 mile in the dash. What could be causing this problem?

your vehicle speed sensor is mostlikely the cause.
