when i first start my car a ticking noise starts and i can't figure out what it is i brought to the dealer but they say its the fan, they fixed it about a 1000 thousand miles ago but it is starting again can you help me

does the ticking happen hot or cold,at start up?does it go away with RPM?is the oil dirty?is it coming from the engine,if it is where? internal? valve train? need more info.
