I have recently placed my beloved Envoy into the hands of a new mech. who came highly recommended to me by a family friend. I dropped my car off on Wends night so he could begin repairing a switch on my steering column that controls the wiper function. However, as he got into it he discovered that the local Midas franchise who did some work on my steering column a few months prior , hacked up all my wires and neglected to secure many screws and covers. This sent the mech into a hissy fit! He was very angry with me on the phone. Saying, "I would have never taken the car if I knew this was going on". Yada yada, anyway I decided to have him replace the steering column. For the work he quoted me at about 1000 dollars. My question, how long does it typically take a qualified mech to remove and replace a steering column for my model SUV?
