Four wheel drive automatic 130,000 miles.

My cruise control quit working, it was working off and on and then quit. I do not know where to start on this.

Okay, this eliminates a faulty brake lamp switch and turn signal switch. You will need to use a scan tool to retrieve any trouble codes stored by the cruise control system. This will help pinpoint in the correct direction of what to test next. Let me know what code(s) you retrieve.

I checked the codes, P1345 and P0442. Cleared, ran vehicle rechecked, P1345.

You need to change your oil (that is what causes p1345 normally), but these are not cruise control DTCs. there are only three main parts of your cruise control system: the PCM (vehicle's computer) , the function control switches and the stop lamp switch assembly. Since there are no trouble codes for your vehicle and I assume it is running fine, this eliminates a faulty PCM. You said the brake lamps and signals work fine so this also eliminates the stop lamp switch assembly. The function control switch is all that is left and must be at fault. Ensure all wiring is good and tight at the switch assembly. If it is then switch assembly needs replaced.

Should be last question. So we are talking about the turn signal switch with the cruise controls on it. is there a way to check this switch?

Yes, the multifunction (turn signal ) switch assembly. Here is the entire diagnostic chart for your inoperative cruise control system:
