2005 GMC Canyon over heating

My 2005 gmc canyon 3.5 (5 cylidnder) has started running hot. my fan clutch was bad so i replaced it. still running hot. so i just replaced t-stat and still running hot. also had radiator flushed. there are no leaks and the lower radiator hose doesnt seem to get to hot after running for a while. when driving on the highway at high speeds the truck doesnt go hot at all until i slow down or stop at a light. any suggestions?

Are you sure the new fan clutch is working properly? If it happens when you're driving slow or in traffic, that is what it sounds like. Other than overheating, is it running ok?

Well the fan clutch is less than 3 weeks old. I am running out of ideas here. Even the day I replaced the fan clutch it continued to do the same thing it did before. You don't think the water pump would be bad? And is the lower raidiator hose not supposed to get very hot?

it isn't uncommon for the lower hose to run cooler. Does the engine seem to have normal power? I'm questioning a bad head gasket, timing issue, or partially clogged catylatic converter.

Yea the engine seems to be running fine. I don't feel any pause or stutter when I hit the gas. I don't feel any loss of power either. I also tested the fan clutch this morning. Truck was cold and tried to turn the fan. There was lots of resistance and couldn't even get a full turn out of it.

If everything checks out, I would move on to the engine. Have you checked compression to make sure there isn't a blown head gasket?
