I have a 96 GMC 1 ton with a 454 BBC. At start up, it idles with great oil pressure (about 60-70 psi) and after 15-20 minutes, the oil pressure drops to 10-15 psi. I don't hear any real knocking at the low end or any valve clatter while using a stethoscope. I am suspecting bearing clearances, but with the stethoscope, I hear noises in the oil pump that sound like a power steering pump going south when you turn the wheels. After 20-25 minutes, the "check gauge" light starts flickering and the oil pressure is almost non registering. Can I buy some time with Restore and maybe a higher viscosity oil as pulling the motor right now is not real viable financially?
