With the A/C on we get a hissing type noise that stops when reducing speed , but does not go away.

A repair garage told us it was possibley a problem with the hoses. The unit kools ok, they said it would cost about $400. to fix but wouldn't warranty that it would fix the problem.

Where is the noise coming from? Have they explained what they are fixing? A hissing sound usually indicated a vacuum leak. THat is why I am asking where the sound comes from.

They don't know where it is coming from, the garage said they read of a problem with the A/C lines being to close together.

Is it very costly or hard to find a vacum leak when the noise only happens when increasing speed?

I understand. That would make it hard to find. I really question their recommendation. I never heard of that. I'm not sure why hoses running close together would cause a hissing noise.
