My truck makes a strange pinging noise when accelerating from a dead stop. Like a cross between a worn tranny mount and bad ujoints. I've replaced both and the sound is still there. Sometimes I can feel/hear a slight tumping noise when I accelerate. Any idea what else it could be? 2000 gmc sierra, 152000 miles 4x4 Z71 - stock suspension and drivetrain.

The knock sensor might not be retarding the ignition timing-check and test it

Forgot to mention that I hear the noise coming from under the mid/back end of the truck. Would the knock sensor still be responsible? Also, the service light has never come on and truck runs smooth. I'll check it anyways just in case.
