i have a 1997 gmc serriea 1500 when i fiill up with the check engine soon light goes out but when i get down to 3/4 tank it come back on i have no clue what it wrong

The light indicates a trouble code, which will be indicated by a letter followed by a series of numbers. As long as the light is on, autozone or a place like that will scan your computer for free. Have them do a scan -- get the trouble code -- and let us know what the code is..
